100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Tracy Young

DJ Tracy Young headlines some of the world’s biggest events, clubs, and parties. With the release of Danceculture 2 for Nervous Records, she now spends as much time in the studio as she does spinning. Young knows how to make it in the cutting edge world of club DJs and re-mixers with her versatile, innovative, and adaptable beats. She taps the global club scene with potent blends of Dance, House and Tribal rhythms. And the celebrities love her too! Young has infused her signature style of re-mixes for Madonna, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown and many more. But she never forgets her loyal gay base: “I’m grateful to have such a strong LGBT fan base. It is these fans that have enabled me to have the career I have. I also feel strongly about supporting rights and causes in my community and will continue to do so.” -KD
