100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Michaline Babich and Michelle Agnew

Michelle Agnew and Michaline Babich, creators and producers of LOGO’s hit
reality show Gimme Sugar, carefully took a year to develop their series, now in it’s second season. Each woman brought years of experience with her to the
project. Babich is an acclaimed filmmaker and television producer who has worked on numerous shows and documentaries including Kiki and Herb: Reloaded. Agnew is also a producer and half of the team behind FUSEevents, which hosts popular women’s parties and events in Los Angeles, including Truck Stop, the backdrop for Gimme Sugar. “As I got to know this next generation of
lesbians through the parties I was throwing,” Agnew says, “I realized there was a kind of envy and admiration I had for them. They were so clearly in possession of a confidence and freedom that had less to do with sexual identity and more to do with an evolution of our culture.” -CB

Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
