100 Women We Love: Class of 2009
Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Kelli Dunham
Standup comic Kelli Dunham is a skateboarding
ex-nun who was kicked out of the convent for “walking with angry shoulders” and having “too much self esteem.” She is also a public health nurse, and a Wisconsin farm girl gone just a little wrong. She’s one of the co-founders of the Philadelphia Dyke March, and on the organizing committee for the upcoming Butch Voices Conference. Her current one-boi show, Pudding Day, is “the account of my life with activist and burlesque dancer Heather MacAllister, part stand-up comedy, part sit down tragedy with love and body fluid in the cracks in between.” Dunham is passionate about the need for queer women to get preventative health care and passes out postcards after gigs that remind folks
to “get their bits checked out.” She has also authored four books, two on nursing and two for kids about their bodies. You can hear tracks from her CDs on the Sirius Raw Dog comedy station. -KW
Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
