100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Yesenia Olivera-Leon

Yesenia Olivera-Leon keeps us up dancing late into the night in Miami, while inspiring us with her
passion for LGBT equality. As co-owner of Pandora Events, the powerhouse lesbian event production company based in South Beach, she produces some of the hottest women’s soirees in the country. Known as Yesi in the club scene, she brings together a sense of South Beach-style, the hippest venues, great DJs and amazing shows. Her events include the infamous Girls in Wonderland “Gay Day Orlando,” Women’s White Party and the Women’s Events of Atlanta Pride. Olivera-Leon believes in partying with a purpose and blends many of her event ideas with charitable causes such as the National Center for Lesbian Rights, where she sits on their National Advisory Board, as well as Human Rights Campaign, Save Dade, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. -KD
