100 Women We Love: Class of 2009

Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Deborah Stanton

“The main reason I do what I do is because I like to make life enjoyable for every creature,” Deborah Stanton says of her many culinary undertakings. A chef who has worked in some of New York’s finest kitchens, Stanton ran her own namesake restaurant, Deborah – Life- Love – Food for over 9 years. Following a brain aneurysm over a year ago, and the resulting surgery, the irrepressible Stanton spent her recovery time devising a new way to nourish the masses. To this end she has created “FüD by Mo2v8r”. FüD stands for “Fitness ünited with Diet”, a line of frozen fruit and vegetable “power pouches” and an exercise program that includes rock-climbing and trapeze. She hasn’t forgotten our animal companions, either. Her “Eco-Licious” raw food diet for Cats and Dogs features local and organic ingredients. “I’m just trying to help feed the world one creature at a time. I’m helping them keep their spirits and hopes high by giving them my gift of food and friendship.” -CB

Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
