100 Women We Love: Class of 2009
Once again, we celebrate our favorite out and proud women. As difficult as it is to narrow it down to just 100, this year’s eclectic list includes artists, athletes, club promoters, community organizers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, politicians and plaintiffs, who are making a difference in our world and the world at large.

Jen Rainin
A prolific traveler and philanthropist, Jen Rainin helms The Kenneth Rainin Foundation,
a private family foundation dedicated to supporting world-changing advances in education, medical research, and the arts. Recently the Foundation partnered with the San Francisco Film Society to fund filmmakers’ work in narrative features that explore human and civil rights, gender, sexual identity, and other social justice issues. A perfect blend of philanthropic spirit, adventurous outlook and a desire
to build lesbian visibility and community all over the world, Rainin co-founded eco-friendly lesbian travel company Sweet. Rainin says, “I knew Sweet was a good idea, but I didn’t expect the overwhelming positive reception from the community. I think we are appealing to people’s desire to make
a difference in the world.” -KD
Remember, these are in no particular order because we love them all!
