Poppy Champlin
“Poppy was a freakin’ ball of comedic thunder,” says a fan as she leaves Mary’s Futon Shop in Marin County, CA. “Who would have thought I would be playing to lesbians in a Futon Shop?” says Poppy Champlin. A veteran Los Angeles-based comic, reared in Rhode Island, she refined her skills with the famed Second City Comedy Troupe in Chicago. Her sharp wit and intuitive jokes can penetrate the heart of any discerning audience’s funny bone and have made her a favorite on lesbian cruises and at The Dinah. Champlin has been featured on VH-1, A&E, Oprah, The Joan Rivers Show and LOGO. She tours the country producing her own show called Queer Queens of Qomedy, now in its fourth year, and is “currently plotting” her own television series. This summer she opens for Cyndi Lauper at Milwaukee’s PrideFest. -KD
