“Consulting with a Social Conscience” is the motto of D&P Creative Strategies, the D.C. area-based philanthropic and legislative consulting firm co-founded by Catherine Pino (left) and Ingrid Duran (right, pictured with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor) in 2004. Formerly the president and CEO of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Duran also served on Human Rights Campaign’s Board of Directors, and is currently a board member of the National Hispanic Leadership Institute (NHLI). Pino, a former Deputy Director of Urban School Reform for the Carnegie Corporation of New York, has served as co-chair and board member of the Hetrick-Martin Institute; she’s currently on the board of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and GLAAD. Together, these two power players also founded PODER PAC, a political action committee committed to increasing the number of Latinas elected to national office. “Through our business, we have been able to work on projects that we are incredibly passionate about,” says Pino, “and to direct millions of dollars into both the Latino and LGBT communities by creating partnerships between between our clients and national organizations in the Latino and LGBT communities.”
