There’s Another Lesbian Couple On Love Island

Kyra Green has coupled up with Megan Barton-Hanson.

Love Island USA’s Kyra Green has coupled up with Love Island’s Megan Barton-Hanson on the spin-off Love Island Games, making them the second same-sex couple in Love Island franchise history.

Earlier in the episode, Green and Barton-Hanson had an open conversation about their sexualities and their experiences as bisexual women. Green shared that she has mostly been in relationships with women, while Barton-Hanson talked about how she was a stripper before Love Island, and her first time with a woman was in a threesome that made her realize how attracted she was to women.

Green said, “I feel like going on this [show], I can be myself and talk about being fluid. A lot of people started coming out to me before they could come out to their parents. I just felt like, ‘Oh, this is what I’m meant to do.”

Barton-Hanson shared, “You can imagine in the UK, [how] people are still quite conservative. To be able to help one girl be like, ‘Okay, I can be authentically myself,’ whether that’s working in the sex industry or coming out as bisexual… It makes it all worth it.”

In her recoupling speech, Green said, “I want to couple up with this person because coming into the villa, I feel like right off the bat, I kinda had a genuine connection with them.”

“It was just easy to talk to them and felt like something I could see over time turning maybe into something. So the person that I would like to couple up with is… Megan.”

Queer fans of Love Island were apprehensive about Green and Barton-Hanson flirting with each other, worried that producers wouldn’t allow them to couple up. In the past, Love Island staff said including LGBTQ+ members would be “logistically difficult.” But this coupling proves that anything can be possible on Love Island.
