Melanie ‘Mel B‘ Brown has been open about her sexuality for years, but we’re finally getting some juicy details over 20 years later.
In an interview with Attitude, Scary Spice described her sexuality as ‘very open’ while reflecting on her 5-year relationship with the unnamed woman, who some speculate could be American filmaker Christine Crokos.
Brown was romantically linked to Crokos in 2003, following her divorce from Jimmy Gulzar. She’s publicly discussed dating a woman in the past, but has never dropped a name.
To the question of whether Brown is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, she says: “I feel like I am. I didn’t start off my sexual journey going, ‘I’m this, I’m that, I’m bisexual.’ I was, and always will be, very open.”
In 2019, Brown dropped a Spice Girls bombshell, confirming she hooked up with Ginger Spice, AKA Geri Halliwell. She shared the intimate tidbit without consent from Halliwell, causing controversy online.
While Brown had her share of flings, she says her long-term relationship was much different.
“I happened to fall in love with a woman and was with her for five years,” she told Attitude. “We still talk to this day. I don’t want to put a label on it, but I’ve always thought women are beautiful.”
She told Gay City News in 2016 that the relationship was quite serious.
“It wasn’t experimentation,” Brown said. “I fell in love with a woman for five years. An experiment doesn’t last five years.”
Her interview follows the release of the new edition of her memoir Brutally Honest.
