Power couple Brittney Griner and Cherelle Griner are expecting their first baby!
The two announced the happy news on Instagram over the weekend with a photo of the ultrasound.
“Can’t believe we’re less than three months away from meeting our favorite human being,” the caption reads. “#BabyGrinerComingSoon.”

The two met at their alma mater Baylor University, a private Baptist university in Waco, Texas. Britney shared on social media that Cherelle tapped her on the shoulder in the “sub area” of the school’s cafeteria.

“You had no idea but I knew you were the one for me baby,” she wrote. You stuck by my side at the lowest and at the highest!”
They were married on June 18, 2019 and will celebrate their five year anniversary this year.
The baby’s July due date will come halfway through the 2024 WNBA season for the basketball star. Brittney, a center for the Phoenix Mercury, is competing in her second season with the team since returning from her detainment in Russia.
She was originally sentenced to nine years in Russian prison for carrying a vape cartridge in her luggage when arriving to the country for an off-season game, but was released in December 2022 after only nine months. Cherelle, an attorney, fought hard for her release along with President Joe Biden, who negotiated a prisoner swap.
The couple has been in the spotlight since their emotional reunion. They attended the Met Gala last year. Brittney recently announced her memoir, detailing her life and detainment, will come out in May.
