AMY & COUGAR
New York, NY
Amy, 29, photographer
Cougar, 38, hospitality guest services

For their first date in 2011, Amy and Cougar met at Therapy Bar in Hell´s Kitchen, and then walked around the corner to a nearby diner. “We sat there for three hours laughing and getting to know each other. I thought things were going well, so I asked if she wanted to come over and meet my dog,” Amy says. “She said, ´No, but if you want to come over sometime this week, I´ll roast you a chicken.´ With that mixed response, I really didn´t know if I´d see her again. But I did, and Cougar can cook a mean bird!” Cougar laughs, “I thought it was really cute and funny that Amy tried to lure me back to her place with a dog bribe. I did want to see her again. The funniest part is, I´m no chef; I really only know how to cook a chicken.” The two were married in September in Washington Square Park, followed by a carnival-themed reception at an art gallery in SoHo, complete with a drag performance, a burlesque icon MC and an Elvis impersonator serving cocktails. They´re looking forward to collaborating on projects, making each other smile, and relocating to L.A. in the spring. Any couple that makes it work in an NYC studio apartment with a cat and dog is bound to give good advice: “Never forget to laugh and always remember to kiss goodnight.”
