100 Women We Love 2007

We present to you this year’s selection of 100 out women who have made an impact on the community. Meet the class of 2007.

Chelsea Starr
Twice a month Starr, clad flamboyantly in a self-designed outfit, spins dance tracks for 800 sexy women. The founder, in 2002, of San Francisco’s Hot Pants party, Starr recalls, “I noticed people weren’t dressing up to go out. I decided they could get in free if they wore hot pants. Within two months, everyone was showing up in them, so I had to stop [letting people in free]!” An autobiographical writer, Starr self-published a chapbook, Long Walks on the Beach With Chelsea Starr, and appears in Michelle Tea’s Baby Remember My Name. See her on the road with Sister Spit in October. –JK
