The New York Band was formed in 1986 by Dominicans residing in New York City; They traveled the world with merengue as their flag and popularized great musical Hits for over a decade. At the time, the New York Band became one of the biggest record-selling groups. 2016, Premios Soberano, in the Dominican Republic, and the Association of Cronistas de Arte (ACROARTE) paid tribute to the important trajectory of the New York Band, granting it a Soberano Al Mérito Award. This tribute prompted the group’s vocalists to gather, after almost two decades of their separation, to provide a surprising musical segment within the awards. The New York Band now performs an extensive concert tour, which spreads throughout Latin America, the United States, and Europe.
