DD. PALIN PAIN
In what was widely regarded as a last-minute attempt to save his campaign, since-defeated Republican presidential candidate John McCain chose Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin quickly became the darling of the far right. Her über-conservative views and $150,000-wardrobe alienated the rest of us and earned her the nickname “Bible Spice.” The do-gooder church gal was tainted by a series of scandals including her husband’s DUI, her unwed teen daughter’s pregnancy and allegations that she charged rape victims for forensic tests in her home state. But it wasn’t all bad—if not for Palin, we’d never have been privy to Tina Fey’s sensational impersonation. Worth it? Totally.
