Gay male dating site “Amicurious.com” has partnered with Freedom to Marry and as of March 22 will donate ten percent of membership dollars towards the cause of marriage equality.
The matchmaking website for gay men is marketed at those seeking lasting relationships. Their slogan is: “Where gay men search for love and find equality.” The site was founded with the idea that gay men should have the same opportunity to find love online and get married that their heterosexual counterparts do.
Amicurious boasts that they accomplish this by matching members based on a patented “Relationship Formula,” a matchmaking system designed exclusively for the company. The formula, Amicurious insists, “emphasizes intellectual and emotional compatibility over physical interest.” Amicurious also claims that their matching algorithm acts as “an exclusive personality assessment developed and validated by psychologists.”
Americurious co-founder Lily Garcia describes their decision to help fund Freedom to Marry this way: “We were so impressed by Freedom to Marry’s emphasis on public education, strength as an organizing hub for legislative and grass roots initiatives, and extensive experience as a behind the scenes leader. The choice for Amicurious was easy.”
Freedom to Marry is one of the leading organizations charging ahead in the fight for equality.
