The best ice cream in Los Angeles comes care of Coolhaus, owned by partners Natasha Case and Freya Estreller. Serving “architecturally inspired” ice cream sandwiches, hand-dipped bars and hard-packed pints, Coolhaus can be found in more than 4,000 grocers worldwide, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Kroger and Safeway. The brand also has two storefronts and four food trucks in Los Angeles, two trucks and a cart in New York City, and four trucks in Dallas, Texas.

“I wanted to make my career something that I loved so much, that I wouldn’t even notice I was ‘working,’” Case said. Before the success of Coolhaus, she worked at Walt Disney Imagineering and started her business by bringing a “barely drivable postal van” full of ice cream creations to Coachella.

“It is about making your career your lifestyle,” Case said, “something you can be around and thrive in every day and inspire your team to do the same. For me, that was food and design.”

Case has been named one of Forbes 30 under 30 (Food & Beverage), Zagat 30 Under 30 and LinkedIn Next Wave (Food & Leisure), and it’s likely because she sees business differently than most people: free of any real obstacles.

“You can walk through a wall when you don’t know it’s there,” Case said.
