100 Women We Love 2006

Meet the class of 2006

Stacy Codikow

In 2001, Codikow founded POWER UP!, the Professional Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching UP!, “an organization that challenges perception through film. We are the only all-volunteer run, non-profit organization that acts like a studio. We fully finance these films and play all the festivals,” said Codikow. In the past four years, she has awarded 12 short film grants to directors like Jamie Babbitt, Angela Robinson and Jessica Sharzer. Codikow has won 75 awards for her shorts, which earn high ratings on LOGO. “It’s been more than a full time job that I’m doing at POWER UP!… It’s really been a labor of love,” said Codikow. Her latest labor of love is the feminist, fun, feature film Itty Bitty Titty Committee, starring Daniela Sea, Jenny Shimizu and Guinevere Turner. “It is the first time that every key position has been [filled by] a woman,” said Codikow.
