100 Women We Love 2006

Meet the class of 2006

Dasha Snyder

In the backlash surrounding The L Word, filmmaker Snyder took an inventive stance by creating The D Word, a parody presenting not the perfect LA lesbians we’ve come to know, but “fantastic and funny people who were all colors of the human rainbow, all shapes under the sun, every gender expression imaginable and all over the Kinsey scale of sexuality.” The film, which has toured the LGBT film festival circuit for more than a year, is coming out on DVD. Synder is currently working on To Do with Michelle Wolff and Jennifer J. Katz, about a young woman with terminal breast cancer whose plans to complete her final “to do” list are foiled by falling in love with the lesbian jock from her old high school. “It’s a dramedy, not anything like the camp of The D Word, although the script serves up its drama with a huge side of laughter and humility.”
