Following the departure of Sara Ramírez, who played Che Diaz, And Just Like That producers were on the hunt for a new gay character. And they’ve struck gold.
Rosie O’Donnell announced she’ll be joining the cast on Wednesday. She shared a picture of the script on Instagram, along with a selfie featuring her curled gray locks.
“here comes mary #andjustlikethat,” the caption reads.
The script reveals O’Donnell will play Mary in the premiere episode of the spinoff’s third season. The episode is titled “Outlook Good”.
Sarah Jessica Parker is confirmed to return for season three, along with Kristen Davis (Charlotte), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), Mario Cantone (Anthony), Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa), Sarita Choudhury (Seema) and Katerina Tannenbaum (Lisette). Parker shared her own sneak peek of the script, tagging her co-stars.
The real question is: could Mary act as Miranda’s newest love interest? Fans will have to wait to find out. The series is slated to debut in 2025, according to Variety.
O’Donnell’s most recent TV appearance was in 2022 on Showtime’s American Gigolo. Prior to that, she played Carrie Walsh in The L Word: Generation Q between 2019 and 2021.
