All you need is a marriage license, concert tickets, and someone you actually want to marry.

If you’ve ever dreamed of saying “I do” in front of a thousand strangers, under stage lights, with Lucy Dacus guiding you through your vows, you might be in luck.

The indie-rock singer-songwriter (and ordained officiant) is inviting couples to get married during select dates on her Forever Is a Feeling tour, which kicks off July 25 in Philadelphia. Dacus first floated the idea on social media earlier this month, casually wondering, “if I figure out a way to marry people at my shows, are there people who would be interested?”

It turns out there were a lot of people who were interested.

After receiving an outpouring of support, Dacus made it official. She’s now accepting submissions via her website. Couples need to bring a valid marriage license to the venue box office the day of the show, and by the end of the night, they’ll walk out with a partner and a signed marriage certificate—plus, presumably, a great story to tell their grandchildren.

“I can think of all sorts of reasons people may be interested in securing the rights granted through marriage (you know what I mean?),” Dacus wrote in a statement to fans. “So if you’ve had it in mind forever or are just recently making the decision, I will be honored to do the honors!”

“Just thinking about how there may be many people looking to secure those rights asap for whatever reason (!) or maybe money or logistics are getting in the way,” she previously wrote on X, referencing the concern about the future of marriage equality in the U.S. She added: “Would do this for free.”

The tour’s website lays out the details: couples are responsible for securing their marriage license in advance, understanding local requirements (which vary by state), and showing up to the venue with their paperwork in hand. In cities like Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and Vancouver, there may be extra restrictions or limitations, but for the most part, the process is fairly simple.

Dacus is currently touring in support of her new album Forever Is a Feeling, released earlier this year. The record leans heavily into themes of time, longing, and personal transformation—a fitting soundtrack for people starting their lives together.

And while some of the earliest tour stops may be too soon for fans to get their documents in order, the option will be available throughout the summer and fall, including dates in Portland, San Diego, Louisville, Durham, and beyond.

So, if you’re sitting on a proposal or waiting for a sign, maybe this is it. Love is weird. Marriage is paperwork. Lucy Dacus is officiating.

Plan accordingly.
