Sex Toy Chic: I Had A Vibrator Hand Delivered For Valentine’s & I’ve Never Felt More Bougie

“Wouldn’t it be lovely if Valentine’s Day was about fulfillment?”

I’m a New Yorker, so I’m used to the fast-paced, instantaneous life that is being a millennial living in this city. I get dinner delivered to my door, I order car services on my phone, I send friends money with the swipe of one finger, and I can even look up the bus schedule through a simple text to ensure I don’t waste time standing out in the cold.

However, I’ve never gotten a *sex toy* hand delivered to my doorstep before. Not until yesterday, that is.

The fabulous and innovative sex toy company MysteryVibe is having a special delivery service just in time for Valentine’s Day and they invited me to try it out. Of course, I said yes, because I love me a new vibrator and who wouldn’t want pleasure delivered to your doorstep?!

The glittery package showed up within an hour and had me completely wowed. As I unwrapped my bag, I found an amazing new vibrator (the Crescendo), sex toy cleaner, lube, chocolates, and cards that show the many positions this vibrator can be used for. Babes, I’m telling you that I have never felt so bougie before in my life.

“As a culture, we’re still pretty uncomfortable talking about sex and sexuality,” says co-founder and Chief Pleasure Officer at MysteryVibe Stephanie Alys. “So we thought on the most heteronormative holiday, we thought we’d try and expand the conversation and focus on pleasure — a vibrator has the ability to be both an amazing gift for a relationship, and a way to celebrate being single.”

My favorite aspect of Crescendo is that it’s the first decidedly all-gender vibrator that can be used in so many different ways, on all different body types. “We know that some people are very comfortable going into a shop and asking questions, but others aren’t,” Alys tells GO. “By offering a delivery service, with a product that has no ‘default’ use, we thought we could really provide a service.”

If y’all have read any of sex ed columns, then you know how much I advocate for communication and exploration in all sexual relationships (with partners and with yourself). This toy is literally the epitome of everything that I love about sex. (And have I mentioned that you can get it delivered to yourself or your lovers within the hour during this V-Day special?)

“Everything you do with a Crescendo is exploratory, from how you bend it to the type of vibes you choose. That necessitates questions — does that feel good? what if I tried it this way? — and hopefully leads to better sex.”

So after I had my Crescendo delivered to my office’s doorstep, I rushed home to try out my new toy. As I waited for it to charge up, I downloaded the app that pairs with the toy. It’s incredible because your partner(s) can control your pleasure with this app from miles away. But for last night, I simply used the manual buttons on the toy.

Let. Me. Tell. You.

This is the best vibrator I have ever owned. And there are troves of them tucked under my bed, babes. You know I’d never lie to you about pleasure — so this is *serious* business. This vibrator can has the ability to bend into different shapes, which makes it easy to personalize for your body. All of our bodies have different shapes, especially the sizes of our cervix, so it’s incredible to have a toy to really intensify the ways in which you can feel pleasure by shaping it to your body. There are also six different motor options to play around with — and I tested them all. They’re all bound to bring your to orgasm.

I also love that MysteryVibe makes no assumptions for how experienced folx who purchase their toys are. Oftentimes people feel intimated by getting their first vibrator or sex toys. MysteryVibe understands that we’ve been taught shame around our sexuality and desires, so they give you the tools to be informed about the ways in which you can use this toy.

“There’s so much in this world that tells us we’re not enough, and that includes highly commercial holidays that set unrealistic standards. When we center pleasure, we destabilize all those taboos and social pressures,” Alys says. “Pleasure centers the now. Pleasure centers connection. Pleasure centers on our bodies. Wouldn’t it be lovely if Valentine’s Day was about fulfillment?”

Yes, it would. Let’s all commit to making this Valentine’s Day about our own fulfillment.

xoxo
