WE Together Presents DISCOTHEQUE: A RUSSIAN-SPEAKING LGBTQ+ NEW YEAR EVE PARTY

Are U ready?! Yes! Here WE go!

“WE TOGETHER” is bringing you a New Year Eve’s DISCOTHEQUE, a queer party and show for the Russian-speaking community, that will celebrate the welcoming of 2022 New Year on Friday, December 31. The celebration will take place at the amazing Margarita bar, located in the heart of Manhattan, near Times Square, at 709 8 Avenue, New York NY, 10036. The doors will open at 8:00 pm, and we won’t stop celebrating the New Year till 4:00 am in the morning.

Besides featuring hours of eclectic music, from old hits to newer sounds from all around the world, DISCOTHEQUE will also welcome live performers who will entertain the audiences throughout the night. We are excited to announce a stellar lineup of some of the brightest queer artists from all over the post-Soviet region and some of our special American guests. Headlining this event is a legendary Icon of the Russian-speaking Queer community, singer/songwriter, and the first Russian-speaking transgender superstar Scarlett La Queen. Other performers who would take the stage would include the up-and-coming singer Roman from Russia with Love, American-Belarusian musician, poet and composer with piercing emotional delivery Ellina Graypel, a stunning performer and dancer Eugene Shiro, a brilliant vocalist and the Mother of the House of Mounstras Chico Raro. The show will also feature some of Brooklyn’s queer community rising stars: the drag acrobatic phenomenon with unforgettable performances Jupiter Gallaxxi, a celebrated Indigenous performance artist, singer, and club personality, known for their genre-defying style J’royce Jata, and a fierce and creative banjee queen from Boston Robyn Edges.

This event is brought together by queer collective WE Together, founded by Leo Allenby, a former Moscow gay club owner. After being brutally attacked in Russia after leaving his own gay bar, he immigrated to the United States and is continuing to create queer spaces for people like him. Originally from the infamous Chechnya region and living with HIV, Allenby’s story has been featured in Washington Blade. In summer 2021, he organized the very first Russian-speaking LGBTQ+ PRIDE Festival in the USA at 3 Dollar Bill, and returned to the same venue earlier this December by producing the very first-holiday party of the Russian-speaking LGBTQ+ community DISCOTHEQUE. You can find out more about our event in BK Reader and the Voice of America (in Russian)

Celebrating New Year, our DISCOTHEQUE is first and foremost of the Russian-speaking community, but we want to welcome absolutely everybody: friends, lovers (past, present, and future), admirers of different cultures, and most importantly, we want to welcome you!

So come meet our performers, reunite with friends you haven’t seen in months, enjoy all the incredible amenities provided by the Margarita bar, and let’s drink champagne and dance all night to the sounds of all of your favorite songs (new and old) while we say goodbye to 2021 and welcome 2022!

All restrooms in our venue are gender neutral.

Strobe lights are used during performances and parties.

“WE together” strive to create a safer space for all attendees. “WE together” also acknowledge that it is impossible to provide a 100% safe space for everyone. The safest space is the crew you roll with and the boundaries you practice in any given environment. “WE together” support your safety by having an explicit safer spaces policy, training our staff to respond appropriately when you need help, staffing a special team of trained ‘Consenticorns’ with light-up beacons for additional support during fetish events, and training our security guards to remove people with misconduct in the most non-confrontational & compassionate way.

While “WE together” strive to provide systems of support at our events, we do not have the capacity to intervene or arbitrate conflicts that happen outside our venue. “WE together” are not able to be judge and jury of our community. “WE together” seek to move away from punitive systems of language and behavior. “WE together” can only take responsible action on issues that occur within our events. “WE together” believe that everyone has the capacity to make mistakes as well as the capacity to do better and grow.

Photography is commonplace at our events, and by entering the venue you consent to being photographed or filmed. If you desire to party in an environment without any photography, please join us at Room of No or Room of Love events.
