Kids, pets, and matching couples are all welcome to attend and walk the red carpet.

Thrown by the Permanent Magical Culture Society and a loose collective of transformative-attire-and street-pageantry-enthusiasts, the guerrilla-style Metro Gala has grown into a public staple.

Part tribute, part parody of the infamous Met Gala, it’s a public free-form open-participation runway fashion (and performance) show, held on the South Plaza of Union Square Park by the subway station.

TIMING

• 5:00PM – Cocktail hour with passed hors d’ouvres and photo opps on the steps.

• 6:30PM – The MC’d runway event

• 8:00PM – We take the underground and hit the underground (subway) scene with glamorous mobile antics, ending at an (optional) karaoke after-party at Skinny Bar!

The Metro Gala is held on Monday 9 May, the week after the slightly-more-famous Met Gala, whose theme this year is In America: An Anthology of Fashion.

Whether you turn a look in the runway show, or come revel in the lavish looks turnt out in the middle of Union Square, participation is FREE!

*Donations and art sponsors are highly encouraged and welcome, however!*
