Sassafras Lowrey is a queer punk who grew up to become the 2013 winner of the Lambda Literary Emerging Writer Award. Sassafras’ books have been honored by organizations ranging from the National Leather Association to the American Library Association and the Dog Writers Association of America. Sassafras has toured widely, giving readings, workshops, and keynotes at colleges, conferences, bookstores, festivals, and squats ranging from Atlanta to Berlin to NYC to Oakland to Amsterdam. Sassafras has taught at LitReactor and the NYC Center For Fiction, and is a two-time AWP Writer to Writer Mentor.
