In May 2016, Emily slid into Karli’s DMs on Instagram. They had been following each other and engaging in a mild comment flirtation, when Emily decided to take the plunge and invite her to a CrossFit competition for which she needed a partner. Except they lived in different states.
After six days of texting, Emily flew Karli to NYC for dinner and a Broadway show. “I spent a weekend living like a celebrity and feeling like one. She really knows how to make a girl feel special,” Karli said.
The long distance was challenging, but then Karli eventually moved to NYC and proposed. They had a lakeside wedding on private property in the Catskill Mountains in September 2017. To match their nontraditional personalities, the two came in on a rowboat, sawed a log in half during the ceremony and went out on an ATV.
“Karli believes in me immensely, and for that I am eternally grateful. We have an amazing, intense connection, and she gets me in a way I never thought anyone would,” Emily said.
As for Karli’s favorite thing about Emily, “how patient and light-hearted she is. There’s no other person in this world that can love me as deeply as she does. Also, she’s really hot.”
For the beautiful pair’s future plans, “In five years, we want to be just as crazy in love and obsessed with each other as we were the first day we met.”
