The US women’s soccer team is still on the road to redemption after their disappointing run at the Tokyo Olympics. Though they left with a bronze, the goal is always gold. Yesterday, the USWNT beat out Australia, a notably difficult team, to move on to the knockout round. Goals were made by Trinity Rodman and Korbin Albert, who became the first player to score a goal during their international debut at the Olympics. Albert made headlines four months ago for sharing anti-LGBTQIA+ videos on social media and subsequently apologizing. She says the “tough love” of their new coach, Emma Hayes, has strengthened the bond of the team.

Her doctor was the one who recommended she take up shooting to stay in sports, and here she is making history and representing her country with pride.

Yesterday, she became an Olympic medalist coming in third place for the canoe slolam despite being in the lowest seed. If you’re not familiar with the canoe slolam, it’s an event where canoers must fight the currents to make it through targets. Some are straight through, while others required and full 360 turn, all while fighting the rough waters. The gold medal winner, Jessica Fox of Australia, became the most decorated canoe slalom athlete ever.

USA has won 3 gold medals in a row, and they’re still making their way to a four-peat.
