The film allegedly distorts what really happened to the deadly ICE shooting that killed queer woman Renee Good.

Several crew members have quit a pro-Immigration and Customs Enforcement film from the conservative outlet The Daily Wire from far-right pundit Ben Shapiro after learning of all the far-right topics in the movie.

IndieWire reports that almost a dozen crew members have stopped after learning of the film’s politics.

“I was asked my availability, was told it was a ‘fun action movie’ in downtown Livingston. Great crew, great whatever. That was the whole pitch,” one person told the outlet. “So, I just said, ‘Yep, I’m available.’”

They said they didn’t know about the film’s politics until production began.

Others also left the production.

“They said that they were explicitly lied to about the content of the film, were only made aware when they got to set, and had to book themselves their own travel home to leave,” said local film worker and activist Brooklyn Wilde.

The film Pawn Shop focuses on a federal agent hiding out with a Latine family in Minneapolis during anti-ICE protests after the shooting of a “fat blue-hair” woman named Melanie.

Melanie “panics when an ICE officer raises his gun and she accidentally strikes his partner while reversing her car. The armed immigration agent then shoots Melanie in response, and his partner subsequently dies. Later, a TV broadcast shows edited footage that omits the collision but calls the shooting ‘murder,’” according to IndieWire.

The outlet reports that the crew members understand the story to be disinformation around the killing of queer mother Renee Good earlier this year. Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent after she tried to move her car after a brief nonviolent confrontation.

No ICE agent died, and none were injured.

Earlier this month, Good’s family filed lawsuits against current and former Trump administration officials over her killing.

In the suit, the family says that Good was unarmed and was not a suspect of a crime, her stopped vehicle did not disrupt traffic, and she had spoken to Ross in a calm manner before he shot her. The suit also says that Ross had already moved away from the car before he shot at Good.

Video from the incident shows that Ross was never on the ground and that he walked away from the scene on his own.

Good was killed only weeks before another U.S. citizen, Alex Pretti, was also fatally shot by DHS agents.
