Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, most commonly known as Bad Bunny, has teamed up with Chris Van Dusen, the creator of “Bridgerton,” to produce a TV adaptation of the New York Times Bestseller “They Both Die At The End.”

The YA novel, written by Adam Silvera, is the first Latinx- and queer-led book to be ranked #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers list. It is a story of unlikely friendship sparked by an app accurately predicts the time of one’s death. Both of the main characters, Mateo and Rufus, find out they are going to die on the same day, so they use the app to connect to have one last great adventure before they die. The book was originally published in 2017 and had a cult following, and it became an even bigger internet sensation after being picked up by #BookTok in 2021.

Silvera announced the production of the TV series on Instagram, stating “I’m so hyped that we’re this much closer to Mateo and Rufus being brought to life for TV!!” He gave a shoutout to the production team as well as Bad Bunny.

Bad Bunny has been a proud supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. Last year, his album Un Verano Sin Ti was the number-one streamed album and became the first Spanish-speaking album to be nominated for album of the year. He became the first non-English speaking singer to with Artist of the Year and the 2022 VMAs, and during his performance that night, he kissed one of his male back-up dancers. Though Bad Bunny has never come out, he has spoken about sexual fluidity in interviews, stating, “At the end of the day, I don’t know if in 20 years I will like a man. One never knows in life. But at the moment I am heterosexual and I like women.”
