Sacred Circle Theatre Company presents
an evening of new plays in process

Join us in the kitchen!
Sacred Circle Theatre Company is the queer/feminist theatre company based in Bushwick, Brooklyn making subversive and provocative work with artists across spectrums of gender and sexuality.

This year, we are turning our attention to developing new work, with an emphasis on plays depicting a diversity of queer and trans experiences. And we invite you to sneak a taste of this new wave of queer art!

We want you to “scorch the pot” with us, an Italian-American phrase for stealing a bite of Sunday supper while it’s still cooking. Sample excerpts of new plays, read by actors from the Sacred Circle community!
AND enjoy FREE PASTA, lovingly prepared by the acting ensemble!

Our June 2019 Scorch the Pot will feature:
Hurricane Ophelia
Written by Mike Swift
Featuring Scout Backus, Maya Carter, Milo Longenecker, and Mick Vasquez
Family drama meets science fiction meets social commentary in this play set ten years in the future. Gender is no longer assumed, the South Bronx has been gentrified, and people have become addicted to the Internet. Against this near-apocalyptic backdrop, a couple deals with others barging into their apartment for food, shelter, and WiFi as a Category 5 hurricane threatens to destroy New York City.

That Heaven’s Vault Should Crack
Written by Rae Binstock
Featuring Anise, Daniela Gonzalez y Perez, Clara Kundin, and Roscoe Robinson
A retelling of stories from the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian holy books in a world ravaged by climate change and man-made destruction. From a new Exodus into space to a modern-day savior condemned to death, throughout each tale we see a God struggling to save their most precious creation: humanity.

Written by Milo Longenecker
Featuring Anise, Christian Hansen Appel, Scout Backus, Aron Canter, Maya Carter, Milo Longenecker, Christopher J. Rand, Becca Travis, and Reilley Vegh
A piece of trans magical realism set in the contemporary Brooklyn queer scene, this play uses frameworks from the legend of King Arthur and the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal to tell the story of a community rocked by a mysterious discovery that allows them to transcend the limitations of their physical bodies.

Savor new flavors! Hear new stories! Experience new worlds!

(and wine available for purchase)
