Come for the QUEER COMEDY, stay for the speed dating and dance party to follow! Tired of apps, but don’t know where to meet the queer cutie of your dreams?

In our own queer take on musical chairs, each person will have a certain amount of time to talk before the music plays and the group rotates. Each party will get a “Like” List where they can mark the people they vibed with – whether that be in a friend way or maybe more! You will have the option to give your details to any person on your dating card to let them know you may be interested. This leaves opportunity to make friends, as well as potential love connections! Like lists will be submitted to the organizers we’ll send out preferred methods of contact to the person(s) you liked!

Each person will fill out a name tag with their pronouns and have a number assigned to them to correlate with the speed dating.

Will I be matched / speed dated based on my sexual orientation and/or gender identity?

Nope! We recognize that sexuality and identity are fluid and often a journey. We do not wish to box anyone in and we believe each person has their own story to tell. You will be divided at random talking to many people. We strongly believe that you should be able to talk to people you don’t want to boink.

What if only men/women/trans/gay/lesbian/bi/dom/sub people show up?

This is an all-inclusive event. We’re not trying to fill a certain quota of gender identity or sexuality. Again, at the very least you get to watch an entertaining show and maybe meet someone who doesn’t suck. We’re giving you a good time with a good show, but we’re not guaranteeing you’ll walk out with a date. You can hire a SW for that.

What if I’m not queer enough?

You don’t have to be enough of anything nor do you have a be a certain height to ride the rides. This is a great space to meet more folx even if you’re still figuring out who you are.

What do I do with my hands?

We have “Like lists” that you will fill out and return to us by the end of the night. If you’re in need of conversation starters, each round starts with an optional prompt.

What if there were people I wanted to meet who didn’t wind up in my speed dating rotation?

NEW to Queer Speed Dating, Starr Bar is hosting a QUEER DANCE PARTY directly following the speed dating. So feel free to stay afterwards and mingle with those you haven’t met. Or you can talk shit about the event, we’re not particular!

What if I really like the person but they don’t like me? Can I find them on Instagram/Twitter/Tiktok juuuust to make certain?

That’s life, buddy. Things don’t always work out as we want. If both persons got on with each other we’ll notify each of you separately to exchange desired info. Otherwise, take it as a fun single experience and lay it to rest. That also means – don’t seek them out on social platforms if they didn’t show interest. That’s creepy.
