Limon Dance Company
The renowned Limon Dance Company celebrates its 75th Anniversary Season with two weeks of live performances, at the Joyce Theater, April 19-May 1. Program for Week 1; Psalm (1967) and Chaconne (1942) by Jose Limon; Air for the G String (1928) by Doris Humphrey; and the new Only One Will Rise by Olivier Tarpaga of Burkina Faso, Africa. Program for Week 2: Danzas Mexicanas (1939) and Waldstein Sonata (1971), one of the first and the last work of Jose Limon; and Migrant Mother, new work by Mexican choreographer Raul Tamez. Under the artistic direction of Dante Puleio, the company continues to honor its legacy through the preservation, reconstruction, and reimagining of the repertory, while at the same time giving audiences a glimpse into the future of the Limon Dance Company.
