The artwork of Marcia “GridKid” Gilbert will be on view, beginning March 15, 2023. An opening for the art exhibit, which features all new work, will be held on March 20, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Tavern on Jane, 31 Eighth Avenue in New York City’s Greenwich Village.

“A Solitude of Squares” includes several series that have their own cadence of movement, syncopation of energy, color interplay, and meditative/musical qualities, inviting the viewer to stay awhile and enjoy the processes that lie behind and within Gilbert’s work. She encourages viewers to engage with the works, continue the dialogue, and reflect on the interplay of syncopation roaming through the artworks. Life, art, and breathing are active and reactive processes, both subtractive and additive. And then there’s the yin and yang of life: focused and free-floating thoughts; experience and experiment; emotion and depression; obsessive and intuitive play; improvisation and conscious decision-making; a willingness to let something come forth rather than a dogged determination to bring it forth.
