The world’s first ever transgender sitcom premiered recently on Vimeo and we are so excited. The majority of trans-centered media is seriously lacking in… trans representation not only in front of the camera but behind. When content created about trans experience in written from the cis-gaze, it will never truly be able to reflect the nuance of true lived experience from a trans perspective. That’s why “The Switch” is so amazing. It not only has a trans showrunner, but the majority of the actors are trans or gender non-conforming and much of the crew has trans employees.
The show is hilarious as it follows around Sü, who flees Trump’s America to come out and restart her tech career in Canada – only to wind up unemployed and crashing on the couch of her ex, Chris, an adorable ecoterrorist. The Switch is available on Vimeo, Revry, and will be launching on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon this summer.
