‘The L Word’ Reboot Just Got Its Title & The Internet Is Freaking Out

The extra words are actually iconic.

ATTENTIONS LESBIANS OF THE INTERNET! “The L Word” reboot that we have been obsessively waiting for has an official name: “The L Word: Generation Q.”

The new series sees Marja-Lewis Ryan serving as showrunner and executive producer (EP) alongside the series’ original creator Ilene Chaiken; its stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey; and Kristen Campo. Steph Green is set to direct the pilot, as well as serve as an EP on the episode.

“Marja has brought her unique and contemporary vision to “The L Word” and blended it beautifully into the fabric of Ilene’s groundbreaking series,” Showtime president Gary Levine said in a statement. “This revered show was both entertaining and impactful when it originally ran on Showtime, and we are confident that our new version will do that and more in 2019.”

The sequel series received an eight-episode order in January and will see a number of original stars reprising their roles. The iconic characters will, according to the show’s logline, be alongside “a new generation of self-possessed LGBTQIA characters experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in Los Angeles.”

“The L Word: Generation Q” is slated to begin production this summer and will premiere in the fall on Showtime. WE ARE SO EXCITED.
