Gillian Anderson Identifies As Pansexual
Anderson also shared her favorite aspects of women’s bodies.
Gillian Anderson is slapping a label on her sexuality.
The Australian recently interviewed Anderson about her upcoming book compiling anonymous sexual fantasies, More. In the resulting article, writer Nikki Gemmell reports the actress “tells me she’s pan, as in pansexual, as in attracted to all genders.”
Anderson’s queerness isn’t breaking news. She’s spoken on multiple occasions about her experiences with and attraction to women, much to the utter delight of every woman for whom The X-Files star was a crucial player in their gay awakening. But she’s also somewhat shied away from choosing a specific label in the past. “Now, at the age of fifty-five, I am thinking, Oh, am I pansexual? Am I bisexual?” she told The New Yorker in 2024.
The revelation that Anderson has seemingly landed on “pansexual” also comes alongside her musing about her favorite parts of both men’s bodies—forearms and hands—and women’s—lips, buttocks, and clavicles. Say more, Gillian!
Unfortunately, this new interview also reveals that the actress is considering moving on from the “outwardly sexual period in her career,” as the article puts it.
“Once this book is done and once [Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma] is done, I feel like … it might be the end of this chapter of my life,” she said.
More will be the second book Anderson has released that compiles women’s anonymous sexual fantasies. The first, Want, was inspired by My Secret Garden, and released two years ago.
“There’s so much shame in cultures, religion and communities that it becomes very difficult for women to ask for what they want,” she told Vogue India. “A lot of More is about eradicating that shame.”
Even if this is the end of Anderson being “outwardly sexual” in her career, whatever that may mean, it seems extremely unlikely fans will stop swooning over her anytime soon.
