‘The L Word: Generation Q’ Announced Two New Characters

Well, technically three!

The L Word: Generation Q” has officially announced two new characters that will be joining Bette, Tina, Shane, and Alice in the new iteration of the iconic show on Showtime. Marja-Lewis Ryan, the showrunner for the new series handed over some script pages to Entertainment Weekly. Luckily for us, it unveiled a few things about “Generation Q.”

The two new characters are Dani and Micach, a cisgendered PR person and a transgender climate scientist, respectively. They’re also exes who are now best friends, so we also know they’re relatable. Something else the script pages revealed is that viewers can look forward to meeting Bette and Tina’s daughter Angelica, who Ryan notes is probably around 16 years old or so, so she’ll already a teenager when we join their family in “Generation Q.”

Ryan also told Entertainment Weekly that bringing back “The L Word” was fun because she got to work on it, but it was also important in terms of representation.

“Getting the chance to write where their lives would be in 10 years, there’s this element of fan fiction that I got to fulfill — and the other writers in the room did, too,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Not to get super dark, but any time I see a news story about a kid like you or me who kills themselves, the idea that this show is not on the air is, I think, harmful. I just think about the little Marjas, watching themselves, seeing themselves, and being okay. So it’s bigger than me. It’s bigger than my ego.”
