Fans were shocked to see the “Big Brother” winner with past allegations of homophobia lock lips with the show’s first out lesbian winner.

As far as surprising Big Brother twists go, Season 26 winner Chelsie Baham, who has been accused of homophobia in the past, making out with openly queer Season 20 winner Kaycee Clark at the Season 28 after party is certainly up there.

In a video posted by hairstylist Pati Arana on Instagram stories, Baham and Clark are seen saying, “tell us when to go” before Clark pulls Baham into a steamy, shocking kiss. Fans were shocked at Baham’s involvement due to her past homophobic rhetoric.

For those lucky enough to have missed it, shortly after winning Season 26, Baham went on religious podcast With The Perrys to talk about how her religious beliefs, Baham is a devout Christian, played into the game. During the episode, titled “Navigating Faith While Playing a Game: A Conversation With BB28 Winner Chelsie Baham,” the group discussed her relationships in the house, specifically with her housemate Kimo Apaka.

Apaka and Baham had shared a conversation in the house in which he shared how growing up queer with a religious family led him to feel ostracized and abandoned. When discussing the conversation on the podcast, the hosts gave Baham props for how she created a safe space for him to have that discussion while also praising the fact that the move would secure that he would not then vote against her. Host Jackie Hill Perry then said, “It was very pastoral, cause you didn’t affirm his sin.” Baham agreed with Perry saying, “Mhm, I said ‘I understand’ which is what we do in ministry.”

Fans were quick to call out Baham for the moment, hurt that her agreement meant that she does see queerness as a sin and playing into the narrative that she manipulated Apaka’s vulnerability to secure her safety.

Baham addressed upset fans in a video statement saying, “Yes, I am a Christian. I love God. I love his word. I am still a flawed individual with a lot of room to grow. But though I am a Christian, I also do believe that the church has fallen short in how we have treated and loved the queer community and it has grieved me.”

“I believe the queer community are not projects to be worked on or an issue to debate rather than people like me to be loved. If you know me, you know my heart is not to hurt, harm, condemn, change or judge anybody… I want to say that if what I said or the lack thereof in that clip has led anybody to believe that I’m homophobic or have hate or dislike for the queer community, I want to say that I apologize, that was not my intention…I do believe that I can hold true to my faith but also lead with compassion,” she added.

Kaycee Clark, the pro football player who won Season 20, became the first lesbian to ever win Big Brother. Clark was open about her sexuality going on the show telling The Hollywood Reporter, “Being full lesbian, with tattoos and into sports I was just different than what they’ve seen in past seasons…It’s so huge to be the first lesbian to win the game. It still hasn’t hit me.”

It’s unclear what the kiss shared between Baham and Clark might mean. Is it a grift for sapphic support? Is Baham trying to prove once and for all that she is truly not homophobic? Was it just a drunk makeout? The world may never know.
