Raven-Symone Married!
First of all, it must be said that GO staffers have always lauded That´s So Raven as supremely superior to Hannah Montana and The Lizzie McGuire Show, and now we can safely say Raven is our favorite child star who hasn´t gone off the rails. The Cosby Show alum came out in a celebratory tweet last August, after Minnesota, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia legalized marriage equality. ″I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and being accepted,″ she said. ″I am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to.″ Raven´s career is also as strong as ever; she recently played the lead in the five-time Tony-nominated production of Sister Act on Broadway, and thanks to her booming Instagram account, is becoming something of a fashion icon. The Dr. Dolittle star has found a balance between being out and proud, and keeping her personal life private: ″I´m not one, in my 25-year career, to disclose who I´m dating,″ she says. ″And I shall not start now.″ That said, she won´t shy away from a good cause. Raven and her rumored girlfriend, model AzMarie Livingston, made a quiet entrance at their first public appearance last fall at Ludacris´ LudaDay Weekend Celebrity Pool Party, a charity event benefitting the Atlanta community. Actress Raven-Symone announced earlier today that she’d married girlfriend Miranda Maday. The reveal came after Raven-Symone shared photos of the event on instagram.
“I got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home,” the actress messaged with a photograph of the couple. “I love you Mrs. Pearman-Maday!”
London’s Daily Mail reports that the wedding appears to have been in keeping with social distancing guidelines: held outdoors with a small gathering in attendance. In a later post, Raven-Symone thanked those who helped and who “understood why it was small this time.”
The 34-year old, whose full name is Raven-Symone Christina Pearman, made her acting debut as Olivia on The Cosby Show when she was just three years old. She continued to work in both film and television, landing starring roles in the Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven and The Cheetah Girls. More recently, she’s appeared as a guest star on Empire and Black-ish, and as a panelist on The View.
Raven-Symone came out officially in 2013 with an announcement on Twitter that signaled her support for same-sex marriage. She’d previously dated AZMarie Livingston of America’s Next Top Model.
Before making the announcement official, Raven-Symone hinted at big news to come in an earlier post that featured a glass of champagne and the teasing message, “So something happened this week, that has changed my life FOR THE BETTER!”
