DiJonai Carrington Claims Ex NaLyssa Smith Cheated With Other WNBA Players
The accusations come almost a year after their breakup.
Last year’s breakup between WNBA players NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington is getting a delayed serving of utter mess after the latter levied cheating allegations against her ex over the weekend.
Fans are still trying to piece together what exactly led to this chaotic sapphic row, but the drama seemingly kicked off when Carrington and Smith recently wound up at the same party. By the early hours of Sunday morning, Carrington had taken to Threads to drop a bombshell of a claim.
“Since mfs wanna be funny today ima be hilarious!” she wrote. “yes, nalyssa cheated on me with Deja Kelly and Aaliyah Nye +++ many more.”
The two first started dating back in 2020, when they were still at Baylor. Their relationship continued through their transition to the WNBA, where Carrington was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in 2021 and Smith joined the Indiana Fever a year later. They briefly played for the same team, the Dallas Wings, in 2025, before once again heading off to different cities.
By November of that year, Carrington had confirmed that she was single, though she made no mention of any infidelity. It has since been rumored that she’s started dating her Aces teammate, Jackie Young.
Carrington’s cheating accusations sent WNBA fans spiraling, both because the statement appeared to come out of nowhere and because she straight up named names.

Smith responded to the allegations during a Twitch livestream on Sunday night, although the nine-minute video ultimately left fans with more questions than answers. She spoke a little bit about running into Carrington at a party prior to her post and gave a weird non-denial about the cheating allegations.
“Whether she cheated on me and I cheated on her, why are we bringing that to the internet a year later when nobody did anything to anybody? Whether she cheated on me or I cheated on her, that has nothing to do with anybody,” she said. “Like what? That don’t even make sense. Then to bring it to the internet a year later is crazy. Just for fun? That’s ridiculous, especially when you’re in a happy healthy relationship. I would never in my life do that to nobody if I was in a happy healthy relationship.”
Nalyssa Smith came on Twitch to clarify the cheating allegations. 🤣🤣🤣

Smith also took issue with Carrington bringing up specific names.
“These folks is minding they business. These folks woke up to this shit on a random Sunday night of these types of allegations,” she said. “I think that’s very weird.”
The All-Star break ends today, with regular games picking up again on Tuesday. The next game between the Las Vegas Aces and the Chicago Sky—Smith and Carrington’s respective teams—will take place on August 1. Who’s bringing the popcorn?
