Comedy lovers rejoice! Lesbian heartthrob and Hollywood writer Lena Waithe is getting a new series on Showtime. The new show, How To Make Love To A Black Woman (Who May Be Working Through Some Sh*t), will be executive produced by Waithe. Cathy Kisakye will serve as the new show’s creator and writer.

The deal comes after Waithe’s history-making comedy Emmy in 2017 and after Showtime signed a first-look deal with Waithe last year, which gave them the right to have the first chance to produce any of her new work. Waithe appears to have super-human energy, as How To Make Love To A Black Woman (Who May Be Working Through Some Sh*t) is hardly the only project that Waithe is currently working on. She also has another pilot in the works with TBS, her regular Showtime drama series The Chi, and is the executive producer of BET’s Boomerang.

Despite her heavy workload, Waithe is excited about the new project. “Cathy’s script is haunting, funny, and extremely vulnerable — it’s the kind of script that doesn’t come around very often,” Waithe said in a statement. “I’m honored that Cathy trusts me with such a special project. I can’t wait for the world to see it.” How To Make Love To A Black Woman (Who May Be Working Through Some Sh*t) will be an anthology series that follows multiple different characters’ dating and sex lives. Showtime says the show will tell “stories about connection and rejection that explore our most harrowing — and harrowingly comic — sexual secrets.”

“Working with Lena is the gift that keeps on giving. We signed our first-look deal with her so that she could bring authentic and talented new voices to Showtime,” said Gary Levine, president of entertainment at Showtime in a statement. “Cathy’s comedy is raw, relevant, surprising, sexy and fun, and we are very excited about making it.”

Because the pilot just got greenlit, there is no news yet on casting or when we can expect How To Make Love To A Black Woman (Who May Be Working Through Some Sh*t), but you can bet we will be waiting in anticipating for Waithe’s newest project.
