Cara Delevingne and Samara Weaving Bring the Lesbian Heat in New Music Video
There’s more than one way to interpret the title “Crazy, Baby.”
Cara Delevingne just dropped a new music video with a wild turn…and Samara Weaving.
The two play lovers in “Crazy, Baby,” Delevingne’s recently-released song about a budding romantic relationship between longtime friends. “‘Cause when you kiss me / I get a little bit crazy, baby, maybe,” she sings. “I’m out of my head.”
The music video itself interprets the lyrics in an extremely fun way. Viewers are treated to sequences of Delevingne having a good time disrobing and dancing around a house with Weaving, all leading up to a steamy, intimate moment between the two.
But all is not quite as it seems. As the music cuts out, we learn the truth: Delevingne has broken into Weaving’s house and is imagining the entire interaction. It feels like an appropriate twist for a song with the word “crazy” in the title. And casting Weaving, who made a name for herself through movies with similarly abrupt turns towards sheer insanity, was an excellent choice.
“Crazy, Baby” marks Delevingne’s fourth single since launching her music career this year, following “I Forgot,” “Out of My Head,” and “Need It.”
“I thought it was too obvious,” she previously told Rolling Stone of the song, written for her girlfriend of four years, Minke. “But I love that song… My partner, who I’ve been with throughout this process, who’s been incredibly supportive, I was doing it to piss her off, in the sense that she hates grand gestures and she’s a very private person. The lyrics are basically like, ‘I’m sorry, but this is a love song. Get over it.’ In a cute way.”
Delevingne also shared that her debut album, Not Normal, will be released on September 25.
“Writing songs over the years has been such an important part of my life, and it has been so special to finally start sharing these songs with you this past summer,” she said via Instagram. “If any of you connect with even one song, that’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
And in the meantime, we can just leave “Crazy, Baby” playing on loop in the background. If you want to see some face licking, this music video is for you.
