GLAAD Announces Star-Studded Media Awards Attendees

The GLAAD Media Awards will be streamed on Hulu on March 27.

The GLAAD Media Awards, a celebration of those in media who have aided in LGBTQ+ representation, are set to return for their 36th year in Los Angeles on March 27. Broadcast on Hulu, this year’s show will feature iconic LGBTQ+ stars and allies alike.

This year’s host, actor Michael Urie, will be joined by attendees Doechii, Keke Palmer, Hack’s Hannah Einbinder, Patti LuPone, Tig Nataro, The Traitors star Dylan Efron, soccer legend Abby Wambach and more. With guests like that, you will not want to miss the red carpet which will be streamed live on Twitch by queer streamer AustinShow.

There’s no party like a queer party and this year’s official afterparty will feature a live performance by Grammy-nominated artist Durand Bernarr whose unique R&B sound has been featured by the likes of Erykah Badu and Anderson .Paak. 

To further celebrate her wickedly exciting year, Cynthia Erivo is set to receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award which honors an LGBTQ+ professional who has made a significant difference in raising visibility and promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. “Erivo’s contributions to LGBTQ visibility extend from screen to stage, with her bold commitment to representing the complexities of queer and Black identities – both in her work and her personal advocacy – positioning her as a trailblazer and a true champion for future generations of LGBTQ creatives, especially those from communities of color,” the media organization said in a statement

Each year the media organization nominates over 300 cultural works across 33 categories ranging from film, television, and theatre to journalism, podcasting, and gaming. As queer media gets better and better the competition keeps heating up, and this year’s nominees are all worthy of celebration.
