iHeartRadio Music Awards 2025 Honor Gaga and Eilish
The annual award show celebrating music heard throughout the year across iHeart radio stations was held in Los Angeles last night. While these awards do not gain as much attention as their bigger award show counterparts, the recent ceremony honored and featured queer artists.
The Innovator Award went to Lady Gaga for her lifetime of work, innovative creativity, and steadfast commitment to being completely herself. Emerging icon Doechii presented Gaga with the award sharing her own experience idolizing the artist growing up. “As a kid that identified as an artist, as queer, and as a Little Monster, Lady Gaga wasn’t just a pop star, she was a lifeline,” Doechii said.
When Gaga got up to give a heartfelt speech, she took a moment to thank the queer community saying, “To the LGBTQ+ community, you taught me bravery before the world was ready to listen. You have changed the world for the better and your courage fuels mine every single day.” We can always count on Gaga to give thanks and support to the queer community.

Later on in the night, Billie Eilish took to the stage to perform her tearjerker song “Wildflower” and was awarded Album of the Year for her recent work Hit Me Hard and Soft. While the album did not fare well in other award ceremonies this year, it was sweet to see the brother and sister duo receive their flowers for the popular album.

Just in case you were wondering, and I know you were, Jojo Siwa was in fact in attendance last night for whatever reason. A year after making her “gay pop” comments and taking the iHeart red carpet in her controversial rhinestoned ‘bad girl’ outfit. Siwa attended this year’s event in a bizarre ensemble and sat next to her current girlfriend Kath Ebbs and excommunicated internet star James Charles. I can’t help but wonder who keeps inviting these folks.
The Wedding Banquet Trailer Drops
A new queer comedy is arriving at a theater near you on April 18. Directed by Fire Island director Andrew Ahn, this adaptation of the 1993 Ang Lee flick of the same name follows two queer couples navigating their families expectations.

Enter Lee (Kelly Marie Tran), Min’s friend who wants to start a family with her girlfriend Angela (Lily Gladstone). Lee and Min decide to marry as Min’s grandmother visits America and chaos ensues.

The film which debuted at Sundance has received favorable reviews and promises to be a genuinely funny flick to add to the growing canon of good queer comedies.
“The Giver” Debuts at #9 on Spotify
Following its release last week, Chappell Roan’s latest country record debuted at number 9 on Spotify, making it Roan’s highest debut to date. This news comes as Roan’s hit “Pink Pony Club” is continuing to work its way up the Billboard Charts, remaining in the Top 10 for several weeks.
Roan shared her love for country music in interviews throughout the past week and detailed that while she tried to leave her home and country music behind, it is something in her blood. While she assures fans that this song does not signal a permanent genre shift, Roan hopes that fans will give her country sound a chance. “Country can exist in a queer space and a queer space can exist in a country space. I’m singing country and these girls who have never left Brooklyn are screaming,” Roan joked in an Apple Music interview.

While many thought that country fans would have a sour reaction to the overtly lesbian lyrics of the song, there has yet to be any real controversy. Here’s to hoping that the country world won’t give her the Beyoncé or Kacey Musgraves treatment.
Hot Milk Gets a Release Date
Premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival, the adaptation of Deborah Levy’s novel Hot Milk explores a complicated mother-daughter relationship throughout a trip to Spain where daughter Sofia (played by Emma Mackey) meets a free-spirited woman and explores her own sexuality while her mother searches for a cure for her illness. Rebecca Lenkiewicz, director of 2017 queer film Disobedience, has received mixed reviews for this newest film throughout its film festival debut.
The film is now set to be released in July and clips have begun to be released in anticipation of its theatrical release. The jury is still out on whether this film will become a queer classic or join the loads of subpar films that only disappoint the media-starved community.
