Being locked in quarantine has me wanting to dance, to move my body to the rhythm and get a sense of euphoria that cannot be achieved without that movement. Unfortunately, I’m confined to dancing in my room; luckily, however, I won’t be dancing alone much longer. CBS’s “Dancing With The Stars,” which is about to begin its 29th season, just revealed its cast-list, and it’s absolutely wild!
In terms of gay, we’ve got a few people to root for. Anne Heche, for one, is set to compete on the show. You may remember her from being in a relationship with Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000, which gave her a major bump in publicity because of her partner’s fame. Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir will also be on this season’s cast, promising some awe-inspiring lyrical movements.
And while they may be straight, there are also a number of iconic stars set to dance themselves to the top of the competition. Those of us who are still not over early quarantine watches will be thrilled to discover that cool cat/kitten Carole Baskin from “Tiger King” has a spot on the show, as does “Cheer” coach Monica Aldama. Music fans can also rejoice over Nelly’s feature, knowing that he’s about to make it “Hot in Herre.” Another treat for those of us who are Extremely Online is Skai Jackson, a Disney Channel alum who is most notably known for memes featuring her and her willingness to expose racists on Twitter.
The show is set to be hosted by Tyra Banks for the first time ever, after a surprise exit by previous hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. The show premieres on September 14th at 8 p.m. EST.
