Kristin and Nicole are both busy CEOs, but their number one priority is being each other’s biggest support systems. Married this past September at a mountainside vineyard in North Carolina, the couple faced their biggest obstacle when Kristin was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome.
“We really had to make some major adjustments to our lifestyle and how we approached everything,” Nicole said. “We had many all-nighters learning how to manage her symptoms and preparing for a life-changing surgery. … The entire process brought us so much closer.”
“We had to work together to figure out what works for my body and also how to manage it with our marriage,” Kristin said. “I had to understand that asking my wife to help me get dressed or, on a bad day, to feed me, that I’m not a lesser person than I was before RSD.”
Despite the changes they’ve had to make to their daily routines, Kristin and Nicole say they have “so much fun together,” and that each other’s positivity and kindness are key to maintaining their optimistic approaches to life.
“In five years,” Kristin said, “I pray we’re chasing kids around while running our businesses.”
