As the first decade of the new millennium comes to an end, we take a moment to celebrate 100 out lesbians who have made the past year one of inspiring change and amazing progress.

Fran Goldstein

An original member of Womanews, the collective that published New York City’s only feminist newspaper in the early 1980s, Fran Goldstein has been one of our most dedicated advocates for more than two decades. She has filled the role of Deputy Director of Lambda Legal, the nation’s oldest and largest legal LGBT advocacy organization, for more than 12 years. In overseeing its Administration and Finance department, she is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the New York headquarters. She has also been a mentor for nine years as part of the Catholic Big Sisters Big Brothers program. “It has been a privilege to work side by side with a group of people who are wicked smart and incredibly dedicated,” Goldstein says. “It is so rewarding to be part of an organization that changes the lives of people in the most fundamental and meaningful ways.” -EI
