100 Women We Love 2006

Meet the class of 2006

Paulette Meggoe

A cycling coach with Fast and Fabulous, an NYC-based LGBT cycling club, Meggoe is beloved among her fellow athletes for her passion, dedication and constant encouragement. “I try to help new cyclists with individual coaching, to get them involved in the sport,” said Meggoe. It was greatly due to her training that the team took home so many medals at the Gay Games VI, four of which she scored herself: a gold in the criterium race, which she said is her proudest accomplishment; a silver in the road race and in the team time trial; and a bronze in the individual time trial. Meggoe is a triathlete, accomplished in cycling, running and swimming; has participated in 26 marathons; and even has black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. Currently, she is training for Gay Games VII, and also volunteers to help those with multiple sclerosis and diabetes.
