100 Women We Love 2006

Meet the class of 2006

Robin Tyler

Comedian and travel company owner, Tyler broke ground in 1979 as the first openly gay comedian to release a comedy album. That same year, she called the first national March on Washington and produced the main stages for three subsequent marches. As an activist, Tyler co-founded the movement to stop anti-gay radio host Dr. Laura from spewing her hateful rhetoric and, more recently, she and her partner became the first couple to sue for equal marriage rights in Los Angeles. She will soon bring her show Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Groom to Provincetown. In spite of her myriad accomplishments, Tyler said, “My proudest day will be the day I can get married.”
