Dance party and unisex fashion show on Fire Island benefits Rosie’s Theater Kids

Fashion on Fire is a dance party and unisex fashion show that will take place at the Ice Palace in Cherry Grove, Fire Island on Saturday, August 22. This exciting event will benefit Rosie’s Theater Kids (RTKids), an arts education organization that is dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the arts. Fashion on Fire promises to be a lot of fun while helping to raise money for a truly worthwhile cause.

RTKids was founded in 2003 by Rosie O’Donnell and Lori Klinger in the hopes of serving students “who otherwise would not have the opportunity to experience theater, positively changing the trajectory of their lives by providing comprehensive classes in music, dance and drama; thoughtful mentoring; and structured academic guidance,” according to the organization’s online mission statement. RTKids reaches nearly 2,000 underprivileged New York City public school students in grades five through twelve every year, with five main outreach programs, all provided free of charge. And since 2003, the organization has purchased tickets for nearly 20,000 fifth graders to see, for most, their first Broadway show.

It is only fitting, then, that this fashion show and benefit will feature original costumes from the musical Taboo that O’Donnell produced in 2003. When asked what Fashion on Fire is all about and what attendees can look forward to seeing, Klinger, Co-founder and Artistic and Executive Director of RTKids, had this to say – “[Fashion on Fire] is a celebration of fashion and fun benefitting Rosie’s Theater Kids. There will be a fashion show featuring fashions by Christian Siriano, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Milly, Comme Des Garcons, Kiki De Montparnasse, Kings of Cole and many more. And of course, lots of dancing!” The event will also feature Joan Rivers’ dress that she wore at the Oscars, donated by Melissa Rivers, and a tribute to the late comedian in the same club (the Ice Palace) where she performed in 1960.

If you like fashion, dancing, donating to a great cause and tons of fun, then this event is certainly for you! The ticket prices are: $25 general admission, $50 VIP area with complementary sponsored drinks and t-shirt and $100 for all of the above, plus a seat for the event.
